Labrador Rescue home dogs who find themselves needing help through no fault of their own. Many of these cases come from loving homes where unfortunate or unexpected changes in circumstances have resulted in the decision to give up their family pet in its best interests. There are also however, cases of abuse, neglect, illness and many other reasons that can be the cause of a Labrador needing our help.

The happy endings pages will be used to remind us of some of those more special or interesting cases. Labrador Rescue involves far more than simply finding new homes for dogs.. Hopefully some of the stories that appear here will show this.

STORM

Storm is a 2 and half year old black Labrador who was adopted at 6 months of age. He lives with Henry a chocolate Labrador. Recently a new friend joined the family - a cat called Alfie who has great fun with Storm. Storm is a real character who is much loved by his family and never ceases to amuse them with his antics. One very lucky Labrador.

BONNY and MOLLY

The boat on the left arrived in Shetland with 2 very special passengers on board - two beautful black labradors called Bonny and Molly. Due to a sad change of circumstances these lovely dogs had to be rehomed. They took it all in their stride, the car journey from Glasgow to Aberdeen and then the ferrry to Shetland. Bonny and Molly are both 1 year old and unrelated - Bonny sadly is blind and Molly is her very own guide dog hence the reason they had to be rehomed together. When both dogs were collected from the ship they went willingly with their new owners and automatically jumped into the boot of the car. They then had a 15 minute journey to their new home - you will see how at home they are in the photo of them on the couch. We at rescue are eternally grateful to Bonny and Mollys new owners who went to so much trouble for these lovely dogs and adapted so many things in their home for Bonnys benefit to make life easier for her. Although Bonny is blind she has a great love of life - and it was quite an emotional moment for her owners to watch her swim in the sea for the first time- a new experience for them both - and infact Bonny was the first one into the water! They are now both experienced sea dogs. These are much loved labradors who are a constant joy to their very special owners

MAX alias Trooper

Max was 16 months old when Labrador Rescue adopted him - he had been caged for 16 months and wasn't in good health.  He had  a skin problem  and was underweight.  He also lacked muscle due to no  exercise and being caged for so long. His coat was dull and it appeared his spirit was gone.

Max didn't know what a collar and lead were for and he was allegedly not very good with other dogs and hopeless with cats. After putting Max into foster care for some TLC and a few trips to the Vets, Max met his new owners.  They instantly fell in love with him and he with them. The rest is history as they say.

When Max was re homed his new owners took him to training.  He very quickly developed a deep bond with his new owners, particularly his dad and excelled at training and within 4 months had progressed from Elementary class to the Advanced class. Max is often used at training to show people what can be done with a dog who has no obedience - when they find out he is a rescue dog and his previous circumstances they are amazed at his skills.

Max is a very loyal Labrador who has more than repaid his new owners with the love, joy and devotion he constantly gives them - he could not have found a better home than where he is.  He is a very happy Labrador now and also a very handsome chap.  He had a hard time for 16 months but since then he has been shown nothing but love and understanding.  Max's owners think there is  no one in the world quite like their beloved Max.  He also likes other dogs and cats and is never happier than when his Dad is hiding his dummy in long grass for him to retrieve.
